The 3564 is a four channel comparator board with a common mode range of -150V to 150V on the two differential inputs and a DAC per channel to set trigger levels. The high common mode range and DC coupling provides a robust solution to level detection and triggering.

In the example shown below one comparator channel monitors the current on a 48 volt power supply. When the current exceeds 10 amps, the differential voltage exceeds 1V and the comparator input to the FPGA goes high indicating an over-current condition.

The on-board DAC is set to 0 volts, since the current level is set by the potentiometer at 1 volt. A serial identification circuit prevents use with incorrect FPGA IP. Other applications include, arbitrary level logic inputs, voltage level detection, current level detection, power measurement, window detection, pulse detection and many other applications requiring high common mode voltages, without the need for isolation.
