ECM P/N 5362 provides eight channels of LVDS I/O with fixed
100 ohm termination. Speeds are up to 200M bits per second. All channels power
up as inputs. Software can then enable outputs on a channel by channel basis.
In the example shown a Technobox P/N 4988 breakout panel
provide two 9 pin d-sub connections for the LVDS channels. Each 9 pin
d-sub connector carries four LVDS pairs and a ground. Note that on a fourth of
the Technobox P/N 4988 breakout panel is in use, allowing other ECMs to use the
remaining six 9 pin d-sub connections.
A serial identification circuit prevents use with
incorrect FPGA IP. LVDS applications include replacement of Legacy ECL systems,
digital video interfaces and general purpose LVDS I/O. Note that LVDS is
not electrically compatible with ECL signaling levels, but offers similar
speeds.
