The Technobox, Inc. optional P/N 9983 Triple Cooling Fan Assembly is available to provide forced air cooling to a pair of edge finger carrier cards. This scheme has been carefully designed to pull air up through the mezzanine card seated on the carrier card. Most motherboards will elevate the edge card sufficiently above the motherboard to provide an intake area for the air.   The outflow is upward through the use of three 40mm fans, which are powered from a six pin 12-volt connector on the carrier card.

A single 9983 fan assembly will handle up to two carrier cards. It is also possible to use this fan assembly on a single carrier card if the adjacent slot is not occupied. In some cases, a short height PCI card (e.g., Ethernet) might be installed in the adjacent PCI slot without interfering with the fan assembly overhang.

Note that older carrier cards are compatible with P/N 4936 and related single fan products, but are not compatible with P/N 9983.

The 9983 fan assembly is shipped assembled to keep all the parts together and also to insure the correct number and types of screws are supplied.
